Design Group, Electrical Design Section Leader
National Electric Coil Company, L.P. seeks Design Group, Electrical Design Section Leader (#0634794) (Multiple Openings) in Columbus, OH to be responsible for design of Large Rotating Electrical Machines; design High Voltage windings, Stator Cores, including the upgrade of the insulation system, changing operating terminal voltage, number of slots, and duty cycle; assign and distribute work assignments; follow-up on project progress; ensure timely completion; conduct first-hand design review of others including concept development and error checking to ensure compliance with project requirements; coordinate efforts of the Design team with the Lead Mechanical Senior Design Engineer to comprehensively address all issues on complex projects and upgrades; and, as needed, refer more complicated issues to the Director of Design Engineering.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 10 years of experience in each of the following: designing large (greater than or equal to 20 MVA), high voltage (greater than or equal to 13.8 kV) rotating electrical machines of various makes; electro-magnetic and mechanical design of large, high voltage generators and motors; using Excel spread sheet macros and formulas for machine design; design of vertical axis machines; and using 2D modelling software. Alternatively, will accept Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and 8 years of experience in the areas listed above in lieu of a Bachelor's degree and 10 years of experience. Also requires 4 years of experience in using 3D modelling software; 3 years of experience in design of horizontal axis and bulb machines; and 1 year of experience in engineering management. Domestic travel to company plant in Brownsville, TX (20% of the time) and domestic with possible international travel to customers' and prospective customers' headquarters or job sites (10% of the time) is required.
